The Rules Working Group was first created in 2007 with the objective of revising the rules of ESF so that they reflected the needs of the Federation and its Members. The revised rules were approved in Arran General Assembly in October 2007.
 
The Rules Working Group, which is now a permanent group, has now the following main objectives:

• giving advice in the interpretation of the Rules whenever needed;
• compiling and keeping up to date the guidelines by integrating them with important decisions made by the Board.

During the Board meeting in May 2010 in Munich, it was approved that the Rules Working Group will gather all the information on the history of the Federation and compile it to be published.
